Dear École Herbert Spencer Community,
Grade 5 Grad!
What a wonderful day for our Grade 5 Graduates. An amazing group, we are so proud. Except for the part where they soaked Ms Bannister and I!! We had so much fun today, thank you to the PAC for all your support of today’s Graduation Day!

Pride Walk – Tuesday, June 16th @ 11:30AM
On June 16 at 11:30 a.m., all classes will come together for a walk around the school to show, as a community, we stand as allies and support the LGBTQIA+ community. We encourage students to wear rainbow colours or Pro Love Messaging to help celebrate inclusivity.
Sports Day! – Friday, June 19th 10:15 – 11:30AM – QP South Field
Sports Day is on Friday, June 19th! The event will take place from 10:15 to 11:30AM at Queens Park South Field, adjacent to 1st Street (next to the Baseball Stadium).
A reminder to all families to please have students wear their Forest Family Colours for Sports Day!
Girls Basketball!
Girls in Grade 3-5 in the Fall 0f 2026 that are interested in playing basketball. Have we got an opportunity for you!
Patrick Service, a Herbert Spencer Family Parent will be coaching a couple of girls teams this fall and he is looking to fill the teams with local New Westminster families! The seasons will run from Mid-September to March break (with a pause for December). Teams will practice at a local New West school for one hour a week with games on most Fridays somewhere in the Tri-cities area.
One of the teams will be for Girls entering either Grade 3 or Grade 4 in the fall. This team will practice on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 at Qayqayt Elementary School.
The second team will be for Girls entering either Grade 5 or Grade 6 in the fall. This team will practice on Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:00 at Fraser River Middle School.
Registration opens on Monday June 15 at TCYBA by following this link Team Snap Registration | TCYBA. And register for those teams coached by Service (yes that is a last name!).
Should you have any questions feel free to have your daughter flag down one of the Service girls and ask what questions you may have (or find one of the Service parents).
