A Message from your PAC – Year in Review
Dear École Herbert Spencer Community,
As we close out another wonderful school year, I want to extend my enormous thanks to our entire school community for your hard work, enthusiasm, and unwavering support.
Our students have shown incredible growth and it has been so rewarding to see their achievements and joy both inside and outside the classroom.
To our dedicated staff and supportive families—thank you for creating such a positive and nurturing school community. Together, we have made this year truly memorable.
I hope the summer months bring you time to relax, recharge, and enjoy special moments with family and friends. Stay safe, have fun, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall ready for another great year of learning.

2026-27 School Start Up
As we wind down another year staff have been busy preparing for the next!
The First Day back at School for the 2026-27 School Year is Tuesday, September 8th.
Grade 1 – 5 students attend on the first day for 1 hour from 8:50 – 9:50 AM. Grade 1 – 5 students attend for the first Full Day beginning on Wednesday, September 9th from 8:50 – 3:00PM.
Kindergarten Students do not attend on September 8, 9 or 10th and instead follow the Kindergarten Gradual Intake Schedule. Kindergarten families will receive communication directly from their child’s teacher on September 8th to schedule Welcoming Conversations for either September 9th or September 10th. The first day of class time for our incoming Kindergarten Students is Friday, September 11th, again following the Kindergarten Gradual Intake Schedule.
Our School is Full and Class Placements have been set. We will have 14 English Divisions and 10 Early French Immersion Divisions for a grand total of 24. An increase of 3 Divisions from this year. Our Total student population will be 546.
Our Bell Schedule remains the same with Opening Bell at 8:50AM; 2 Recesses at 10:10 and 10:25 AM; and One Lunch from 12:05 – 1:00 PM; Dismissal at 3PM.
Families can expect Welcome Back Messaging and Opening Day Information to come from the school the week of August 31st.
We anticipate organizing into our 2026-27 Classes on the First Full Day – Wednesday, September 9th. Specific Class Placement Line Up Information will come in the afternoon/early evening on September 8th.
School Supplies will again be offered in bulk for 2026-27. Families will be charged $50 in September through School Cash Online and supplies are then purchased directly by classroom teachers. This has proven to be an efficient model ensuring students have access to the same supplies and we are able to take advantage of bulk purchasing power and replenish as needed. If families need support with school supply purchases or prefer to purchase them independently please contact Mr Manville directly at pmanville@sd40.bc.ca and we will be happy to support!
