Principal’s Message – May 23rd

Dear École Herbert Spencer Community,

We finish off a busy, busy week and head right into another! A reminder that LOTS is happening as we close out the 2024/25 school year so please pay close attention to the calendar of events (scroll down to bottom) and the upcoming week dates (scroll down less!). For individual classroom trips or events please communicate directly with the classroom teacher.

A few important Shout Outs this week. Firstly to Ms Nemeth for her incredible work with our Performing Arts Club and their High C’s Adventure performances this week! The school was treated to an afternoon performance on Tuesday and then the Club followed up with 2 evening performances on Wednesday and Thursday. The show was AMAZING and students should be so proud of all they accomplished. The energy and enthusiasm in our building leading up to the performance and particularly this week has been infectious and it has been such a pleasure to be a part of. Ms Nemeth – you are incredible, we love you and and we all appreciate what you have brought to our school community so very much.

Another HUGE shout out to our Parent Advisory Council and their relentless support this year. We appreciate all you do so much bringing Fun Lunches, Classroom Resources, Field Trips, Performance Costumes, Sports Equipment, Reading Link Challenge Resources, Digital Education Subscriptions, Special Events and MORE! Our school benefits so greatly form all you do and we can’t thank you enough for the support.

How can YOU show your appreciation?! – Get Involved, Volunteer, Participate in Fund Raisers and come to the Parents’ Night Out! on Saturday, May 31st, 7PM at the Royal City Curling Club Lounge (on the corner of Cumberland Street and 6th Avenue, adjacent to the təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre). Parents’ Night Out – 80s Theme Party!

WHERE: Royal City Curling Club Lounge (no curling – just partying!)

Calling all parents! It’s time to dust off those leg warmers, tease up your hair, and bring out your best 80s look for a night of fun, food, and friendship! Dressing up is totally encouraged (but not required)!

Choir Performance!

We will be holding a choir concert on Tuesday, June 10th, at 6pm in the GYM. Everyone is welcome to attend! Access will be open at the Side Gym Doors adjacent to 6th Avenue. Doors Open at 5:45 PM – Hope to See you there!

Freezie Fridays

… are back! Every Friday to Year’s End at the 3PM dismissal bell. Parents will be stationed at the front of the school and on the corner of Princess and Second Streets. Loonie gets you half a Jumbo and a Toonie gets you a whole!
