Another busy week behind us! Thank you to Staff and Families for participating in Parent Teacher Conferences last week. It was wonderful to see everyone in the school, we hope you found your conferences informative and are looking forward to what’s to come this year!

Online Community Consultation Session on Safety at Intersection of 6th Avenue and 2nd Street – October 29th
The City of New Westminster will be hosting an Online Information Session in regards to the road safety review at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Second Street. During the session, City staff will be presenting the city consultant’s key findings and recommendations from the safety review. The City Council requested the study earlier this year in response to concerns raised by families of Herbert Spencer students. Your diligence and support for traffic safety in our community is very much appreciated! Please make an effort to attend the online session as our community continues to advocate for traffic safety around our school.

Early Literacy Screening!
All of our Kindergarten, Grade 1 Teaching staff and School Based Team Resource Staff have been trained to administer the new ministry of Education Early Literacy Screeners. The use of the Screener will be an important component of our School Growth Plan and our Goal to continue to identify students with gaps in their literacy skills, so we can target interventions early and narrow or eliminate gaps in later grades.
