Principal’s Message – March 6
Dear École Herbert Spencer Community,
What a week! Some Sun, some Fun and Lots of Activity! Please see the following highlights, reminders, updates and information!

** Please ensure you have returned all CREATED BY KIDS orders to the school for Monday, March 9th.
Grade 5 Cosom Hockey Tournament
The tournament was a huge success. We had 40 Grade 5 Students participate and while they didn’t take home the Championship Cup, we came about as close as you possibly can. Both teams made the Semi-Finals and ultimately we were bested by a triumphant Lord Tweedsmuir in a shoot out to decide the Champion. Huge congratulations to all, and huge thanks to all the organizers.
Crepes!
EFI classes were treated to a French specialty this week! Lots of opportunity for language development and a sweet treat to finish off!
Mike’s Critters!
Kindergarten classes visited with slithery, furry and just plain cute friends this week. Thank you PAC!
Loose Parts Story Workshop!
Students have enjoyed working with our loose parts carts to create stories in our library and individual classrooms. Recall that Ms Nisha Bagha took the staff through a workshop at our recent Early Dismissal Collaboration Day and we have created 4 Loose Parts Carts for Staff to use to support our Learning Plan Literacy Goals. Ask your children about it! You may want to visit a dollar store with your child and create your own Loose Parts Box for home! It is an excellent strategy for idea development and helps students overcome written out put challenges. We would be happy to support you!
Axe Copoeira! – Grade 3/4
A reminder that Axe Capoeira is happening next week! Grade 3 and 4 students will participate in one hour workshops on Tuesday 10, Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 and will put on a Final Performance for Families at 1:30PM on Friday, March 13th.
*Attendance is limited to the families of Grade 3 and 4 students and no more than 2 family members please. Parents will be directed to enter the gym through the side gym doors adjacent to 6th Avenue. Doors will open at 1:15 PM. We hope to see you there!
Library Books!
Please return all Library books by Monday March 9th. Ms Thomas needs those back so she can organize the library for our return after break.
