Principal Message: April 11, 2025

Dear École Herbert Spencer Community,

It’s been another wonderful week here at École Herbert Spencer! As the weather continues to improve and our teachers find exciting and engaging ways to inspire learning, more and more classes will be heading out on field trip adventures. If your child is unable to attend a field trip, please be sure to inform their teacher and/or the office. For any questions about field trips, such as permission slips or details, feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher, as they will have the most up-to-date information.  We  had a wonderful visit from Mike’s Critters and both students and staff were excited to meet some new friends.  Finally on Friday we had a band performance by Shoreline Middle School- and our students loved it.

Student Led Conferences: Just a reminder that Tuesday, April 15th and Wednesday, April 16th are Early Dismissal Days to support Student Led Conferencing – dismissal is at 12:05 PM, please make a note of this time in your calendars.  Should you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your child’s teacher directly.

  • Usborne Book Fair: The Usborne Book Fair is coming to join us on April 15th & 16th from 12–5 PM in the library.  Please come check it out a fantastic selection of books to spark imagination and inspire young readers. Whether you’re hunting for a new adventure, a fascinating fact book, or a beloved classic, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss this chance to explore, discover, and bring home some literary treasures!
  • Little Miss Coffee Co. is Coming to Conferences:  We’re excited to welcome Little Miss Coffee Co. to our school on Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:45 AM to 4:00 PM during Parent-Teacher Conferences. Take a moment to treat yourself—grab a delicious coffee and a sweet treat either before or after your child’s conference. It’s the perfect way to enjoy a little pick-me-up during a busy day!

Professional Development Day:  Just another reminder that Thursday April 17, 2025 is district wide Professional Development Day and schools are not in session on this Day.

Observances and Celebrations: We would like to send warm wishes to everyone observing Passover (April 12-20th) and Vaisakhi (April 13th) this week. May your celebrations bring love, unity, and cherished moments with your loved ones.   **Vaisakhi celebrations take place both in Vancouver (April 12th) and in Surrey (April 19th) and are amazing opportunities for families to learn with community**.
