Principal’s Message – February 13th
Dear École Herbert Spencer Community!
I would like to thank the community for the wonderful welcome and encouraging smiles my first couple of days. Students and staff have been so welcoming whether I am visiting in classrooms or just walking down the halls, there are big hellos and friendly smiles all around. This atmosphere in this building is beautiful and you can feel that students and staff both want to be here to engage in learning opportunities that are exciting, fun and meaningful. We look forward to having Mr. Manville back soon, and sadly, we say our goodbyes and goodlucks to Ms.Hare as she embarks on her new and exciting journey.
This week I had the wonderful opportunity to do the following activities:
- Visit classes/meet staff
- Watch and play some ball hockey with our Grade 4’s and 5’s
- See early morning basketball club
- Play Dr. Dodgeball
- And see the naming of our new fish who will now be affectionately known as Bubbles. It has been such a blast, and I can’t wait until next week to see what else is in store.
February is Black History Month:
February is Black History Month and we celebrate by recognizing the resilience and excellence of Black Canadians. The 2025 theme for Black History Month is: “Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations.” This theme acknowledges the diversity of Black Canadians, the importance of Black leadership and the legacy being built for future generations.” Here is a link to the Government of Canada’s resource page for Black History Month.
